Hi there. My name is Jessica, I like to doodle. This website is the archive gallery of these doodles, they're often random one-offs or recurring fanart for things I like and find funny, or character design exercise, and posted on twitter or elsewhere. None of these are done for any other reason than... to have fun doing it!
I work full-time in 3D character animation in Vancouver, and draw, design and visually develop in my spare time as a hobby. I hate strawberries, crunchy candy and sour things, but I love pies and cake and any sort of pastries... but my favourite food of all time is curry udon and soups with lots of pasta in them
Q) do you do commissions?
A)sometimes but not often. I have a full time job! My social media will let you know if I am available. Thank you though!
Q) how do/did you become an animator?
A) you have to master the principles of animation and get a 'sense' for weight and gravity most of all. Then, you need a good eye for acting, YOU must be an actor! and then a reel and apply. Nowadays if you're friends with people you can get your foot in the door if you can teach yourself maya(it's free to learn with), master the graph editor(it took me like 2 years), make some stuff and send it to folks, they may take a chance on you. Remember WHY you love animation!
Q) who are your favourite artists and animators who inspire you most?
A) Rune Bennicke, Sandro Cleuzo, Sergio Pablos, Mingjue Chen, Kim Hazel, and a bunch of my own personal pals
Q)what programs, brushes, etc do you use?
A)I use Paint Tool SAI 2.0, with an extremely basic circle brush with only a little bit of size by pressure. Rarely, I use photoshop or other simple programs for post-processing.
Q) any other tips?
Floss! chew your food completely! Have water on hand to sip, all day long. If your wrist hurts, stop using it for 2 days. Update your computer when it tells you so it doesn't restart in the night and screw up all your tabs! Keep your LinkedIn up to date. You're likely not getting enough iron and vitamin D, so eat frosted flakes for breakfast
feel free to donate if you enjoy my artwork!
